A few years ago, in response to the cancellation of
the one-design events during Acura Miami Race Week, Some of the Etchells sailors
from Coral Reef Yacht Club held the first "Coral Reef Cup". The locals knew that
spring has some of the best weather for racing in Miami, and were not prepared
to give this up.
The weather and racing during the early Coral Reef Cups has fulfilled all those
expectations.

The perpetual trophy hangs prominently in the Yardarm Bar at Coral Reef Yacht Club.
